1971 CORVETTE STINGRAY "STEEL BUMPER CAR" PROJECT * Car Starts, Runs and Drives * 350-V8 engine * 4 speed * Coupe * Removable T-tops * Manual steering * Manual brakes
This is a great 1971 Chevy Corvette PROJECT that STARTS, RUNS AND DRIVES. It will make a great finished Vette once it is restored or a nice driver for a little cash. This car is complete, 4 speed, Non matching 350-V8 engine.
The exterior of this Corvette is actually in decent shape for a 41 years old car but it needs, some glass work as well as new paint. There are some minor cracks in paint, one in the flare and front end. It also has few areas were paint finish is chipped off, nothing you wouldn't expect from a project car.
The frame and bird cage are solid. They are in very good condition with what looks like just light surface rust. Being a southern car it has been kept out of ice, snow and salt. The vehicle sat in a garage in Floresville for about 10 years ready for restoration but owner passed away and so it made its way to Marion TX from were I purchased it, for a father and son project. Unfortunatly this has not come to pass and I have decided to resell it and allow this beauty to make someone proud instead of just idling there.
This car could use a restoration if you want it perfect and worth the big $$$ or put a little money in it, and make it a daily driver. The tires look good and I drive it around the neighboorhood but are at least 20 yrs old, so I recommend new tires before it becomes a daily driver. Also arange for transportation to final destination or bring a trailer and I can assist in driving it on it and securing it. I have steel bumpers off the rear of the car that I will include in sale. If you register it as an antique vehicle, I belive the cost is pretty low, but check because it's propably diffrent in each state.
This would make a great summer project for a low price and should not be extremely hard to make into a nice Corvette. It is a great year, steel bumper car that is appreciating in value on a daily basis. After 71 the H.P. continues to drop and eventually in 73 they do away with the steel bumpers all together. It takes seconds to unlatch the t-tops and it gives you the convertible feeling with T protection in a rollover.
Here are a few items that were replaced recently: New exhaust from headers back, new fuel pump, sending unit, new gas tank.
I will also include a set of pop-up lights for it ($1,300 value) if someone want to go all original - if the auction meets a minimum of $6,500.00.
Again this car was originaly chosen by the buyer as muscle car with standard 4-spd., manual steering and brakes so its not a luxury cruiser. Somewhere along the way it became Gold with tan interior.... Orignal tag calls for: Factory paint * 972 Classic white Trim * 423 Dark green
Thank you.
I reserve the right to end the auction early, as the vehicle is also listed and advertized in the local area !!!
Remember Southern car = less corrosion ..... SOLD IN "AS IS" CONDITION !!! Price: US $6,500.00 |
